The Lviv Insulator Company Ltd. was founded in 2002, taking over from the Lviv Insulator Plant, which has been in operation since 1965.
In the middle of the 90s the general worsening of the economic situation in the former USSR caused the Lviv Insulator Plant to reduce its sales and temporarily stop insulator production. As a result of the political and economical reforms in the former Soviet Union, the Lviv Insulator Plant had to restructure its operations and so the Joint Stock Company "Lviv Insulator Plant" was founded in 1992.
Since 1999, thanks to the efforts of the plant's personnel, the Joint Stock Company "Lviv Insulator Plant" has become more active and improved its market position rapidly. Taking over from the Lviv Insulator Plant in 2002, the Lviv Insulator Company has continued to expand its sales into numerous countries. More than 30 countries in the world have used and still use the 250 million insulators produced by the LIP since 1965 and this attests to the quality and high reliability of our product. Our insulators can be used in all types of electrical installations, from low (0.4 kV) to high (1150 kV) voltage situations.
Lviv Insulator Company have got good traditions of high quality glass insulator's production from Lviv Insulator Plant, one of the largest Europe's producers of hardened glass insulators, and continuued them successfully. In 2003 Company received ISO 9001/2000 Certificate and in July 2004 passed successfully internal audit regarding accordance to ISO standards.
The Lviv Insulator Company is situated in the southwestern part of the city of Lviv, which is close to the western border of Ukraine. Through its many road and rail links Lviv is connected with the countries of East and West European, the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union and Asia. Lviv's close proximity to air and sea ports also allows for the easy and speedy shipment of products to all parts of the world.
The Sales Geography of the Lviv Insulator Company products at the middle of 2004 year is as follows:
At present the Lviv Insulator Company has the capability to produce 16 types of suspended, lock and pin insulators having varying shapes and electromechanical strength from 40 to 400 kN. Some typical uses for the insulators are:
- insulation and fixing the overhead power lines;
- power station and substation distribution devices for direct and alternating current and for frequencies up to 1000 Hz.
- electrification of railways.
Our insulators can be used in the harshest and most hostile environments operating successfully in extremes of temperature (-60 C to +50 C), climate, humidity and conditions of pollution.
We use the latest scientific and technical advances developed in the fields of materials and energy by the research institutes of Lviv and Kyiv and the high voltages test centre (HVTC) of Sloviansk
Our Company products, formerly manufactured under the "Lviv Insulator Plant" trademark, are well known in more than 30 countries around the world.
The insulators have passed certification tests in the laboratories of numerous National Institutes in many countries including: Elektronetinsulateservice (Russia), EGU HV LABORATORY (Czech Republic), KEMA (Netherlands), Lublany (Slovenia), Zagreb (Hrvatska), Budapest (Hungary), VTT (Finland), B.C. HYDRO (Canada), Vasteros (Sweden) and they fully correspond to the requirements of International Standards such as IEC 60 303, IEC 60 120, IEC 60 383, IEC 60 372, etc.
